Concert To Unite Artists Comes To Lyric Theatre

Uniting artists is the main motive behind a star studded line-up MegaGospel 6 Concert taking place at The Lyric Theatre (JHB) on 3 September.

MegaGospel, a live show that has always hit the right note with audiences over the past five years will be making a triumphant return to the live music circuit. Simply put, it’s a series of live music events featuring artists from various areas and backgrounds, who comes together to sing live for their combined audiences. It also aims to assist up and coming talented artists by exposing them to various markets already accessed by established artists, thus ensuring that they get to benefit more and spread their wings beyond what they could have achieved as individuals. The core theme around the event is that of love and unity between Gospel artists. Here the encouragement is to the artists to work together, complement each other as a team, and thus be able to grow their brands and their markets even bigger. It is to show that there is power in unity. That is why collaborations form a bigger core of the event as well.

Not only is the event celebrating its 5th Year Anniversary, but it also boasts what one can simply dub a dream line-up for any concertgoer.

It includes Ntokozo Mbambo who just returned from her tour of the UK and who is also nominated in the International Annual African Muzik Magazine Awards. This award winning songstress is still remembered for her sold out live DVD recording in 2015. She has opened the stage for countless acclaimed Gospel musicians like Yolanda Adams, Donnie McClurkin, Kirk Franklin and Cece Winans on their South African tours respectively. Her albums have won SAMA’s, Gospel Crowns and even an Africa Gospel Music Award.

Also on the line-up are the much loved couple of Bongi and Collin. This duo has been busy on the road, having already performed in the US and France this year alone. They have also toured the country and are currently set to tour Angola. Their awards shelf is also full, comprising of a SAMA, multiple Crown awards and an Ingoma humanitarian award. They are currently nominated for an Ingoma Song of the Year and Best Artist Website Awards.

Also not to be missed is the one artist who not only won multiple awards but has also in recent times collaborated with various other artists. The super talented Mabongi has collaborated with Ps Benjamin Dube and Ntokozo Mbambo in 2015. She also won several awards and her stage presence remains amongst the top ones on the local gospel music scene.

Having recently recorded their first live DVD, We Will Worship are also on the line-up. The Metro award winning group are expected to leave the audience yearning for more. Also joining them will be another multiple Crown awards and African Gospel award winner, Karabo Mongatane with his soft smooth voice. He won five Crown Awards in 2013. Banele, also a Crown award winner concludes the main stage line-up.

The MegaGospe New Talent Stage also boats amazing upcoming talent. This includes artists that are to be watched out for in future. Two amazing acts, who are currently also nominated for Ingoma Awards, have been afforded this honour. The two are Josh Cele and Thando Makhaphela. Many will remember Thando from her appearance on I want to sing gospel on SABC. She went on to sing with Spirit of Praise, Fashion Meets Gospel and also recently as part of SAMA nominees Women in Praise group. Josh is another strong vocalist nominated for best worship album in the 2016 Ingoma awards. He has been going around the country to promote his offering and has received rave reviews wherever he went. Idee, another blossoming new act from Pretoria concludes the line-up.

With such an amazing line-up, MegaGospel is definitely one event not to be missed. This popular series of live gospel shows by StepLeMist Concerts will also be celebrating its fifth year anniversary. The organizers have promised an event not to be missed, and the line-up is proof of that. It’s been a long journey for the concert series, with the first concert having been watched by just a little over hundred people. Fast forward to five years later and over a thousand people are expected to fill up Lyric Theatre to witness the event’s 5th year anniversary celebrations.

The show takes place on Saturday the 3rd of September at The Lyric Theatre at 7pm. Tickets are already on sale at Computicket and Shoprite/Checkers stores countrywide.
