JYO Ready To Teach You Orchestra

If you don’t know a cello from a trombone, but would like to learn, the young players of the Johannesburg Youth Orchestra are ready to teach you.

The Johannesburg Youth Orchestra Company is holding their annual Wozani Concert at the UJ Arts Centre, Kingsway Campus, Auckland Park on Sunday, March 19 at 14h00.

It is an educational concert introducing the instruments of the orchestra and featuring the graded ensembles which cater for everyone from beginners to the talented players of the elite Johannesburg Youth Orchestra.

Repertoires range from classical to jazz and groups include the jazz ensemble, Intermediate and Beginner Strings.

Among the pieces to be heard are the Intermediate Wind Band with Acclamations by Ed Huckeby and Blurred Lines by Robin Thicke; the Symphonic Wind Band with Brass Machines, Esprit de Corps by Robert de Jager and the first movement of Beethoven’s 5th Symphony with the Johannesburg Youth Orchestra.

Admission is R20 at the door.
